Warning!  Don't Miss Out!
Another blog about Liberty Wool Print's new yarn colors for the month?  Nope.  No new colors this month.  This blog is a warning.  A warning that our long-running Liberty Wool Print 20% off sale will end on July 31st!  Oh, no!

Liberty Wool Print is Classic Elite's soft, worsted weight machine washable 100% wool yarn.  Yup, that's right, I said machine washable wool.  It is a self striping yarn in a huge assortment of awesome colors.

From January through June Classic Elite Yarns has been introducing two new colors of Liberty Wool Print yarn each month.  Those new colors have been added to our website and we now have 40+ different colors online and on sale at 20% off

Out of the 40+ colors, here are some of our favorites:
    Rosy Delight
  • Chintz is as bold and beautiful as an Indian flower, with green, blue, red and purple balanced with a bit of gray.
  • Verdant Violet is just as the name suggests: green and purple.  The colors mingle gently into a calming, leafy, outdoorsey blend.
  • Smokey Bonfire is a smidge of orange smoldering into purple, brown, gray and blue in a warm, autumn blend.
  • Rosy Delight is a cheerful blend of pink, purple, gray, red and orange that can't help but brighten your day and make you smile.
  • Teal Chameleon is a bold blend of green, purple, yellow and blue - you certainly won't fade like a chameleon with this color!
  • Magenta Masterpiece is an exciting array of magenta, purple and red balanced with the more subdued blue, gray and brown.
  • Meteor is a flash of blue brilliance followed by a colorful tail of pink, orange, yellow and green.
  • Rodeo combines earthy browns together with the flashy reds, purples, blues and greens of the cowboys' vibrant star-spangled costumes.
  • Sunset Frost combines the orange and yellow of a sunset with the blue, purple, gray and green of a morning frost into a relaxing, soothing color.

The Crossbones Cowl KAL - And the Yarn is 20% Off!

Crossbones Style Cowl
It's always fun to knit with a friend.  It's even better to knit with a new friend!  With that in mind . . . meet Steve May!

Last year, Skacel sponsored the first season of “The Fiber Factor,” where independent knitwear designers competed for world fame. This year, the favorite and most knittable designs are being featured in a series of Knit-Alongs, hosted by these now famous “Knitterati.”

In August, Steve May will be leading a Knit-Along featuring his popular design, the “Crossbones Style Cowl” which is available for Free!  The cowl is knit in the round, featuring twelve sections of different knit and purl checkerboard patterns.  This is not a monotonous, dull pattern - the variety will keep your knitting interesting and fun!

So who is Steve May Someone with decades of knitting experience under his belt?  Not hardly.  He learned how to knit about one year ago.  An artist who likes art in all forms, he was introduced to knitting when he worked with Steven West on the "Places Where You Can Knit" videos.  Surrounded by knitters who never stopped knitting, he took up a pair of needles and the rest, as they say, is history.  You can learn more about Steve May in his video introduction.

More about the cowl?  The gauge of the cowl is approximately 4.5 st/inch (18 sts/4 inches) in garter stitch, in one size.  The suggested yarns are HiKoo's Kenzie or HiKoo's Simplicity.  Which do you prefer?  That's up to you - because both are on sale at 20% off!  The sample is shown knit in Kenzie in the natural "Pavlova" color (and yes, that cute model is Steve May himself!).

Every Monday in August, a video with Steve will explain what should be tackled that week while giving you hints and tips on knitting his unique design.  The KAL starts Monday August 4th at 8:00 AM Eastern time (View KAL videos here). But you don't have to get up at 8:00 AM - watch it when it is convenient for you!  Steve will also be actively answering questions about his pattern and cheering you on in “The Fiber Factor” forum on Ravelry.

There is no registration or cost, simply download the free pattern, get your supplies and check out Steve’s video starting on August 4th at 8:00 am Eastern time. Don't hesitate to call us if we can help with your yarn, needle or notion selections ... a great way to get a jump on your holiday projects!

Here is what you will need:

Need more incentive? You will also have the chance to win great prizes generously furnished by Skacel Collection. Skacel will be randomly selecting three lucky winners who post pictures and information about their finished projects on Ravelry. The project must be started in August and finished within two weeks of the posting of the final instructions/video. Winners will be announced on Skacel’s “” and on Ravelry.

Enjoy knitting with your new friend Steve!

Celebrate the 4th of July with Starry Patriotic Colors

The Second Continental Congress adopted its declaration of freedom on July 2, 1776, and adopted the Declaration of Independence two days later, on July 4th.  In a letter to his wife on July 3rd, founding father John Adams said of the event:
John Adams
I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.
(So what the heck is a "Shew"?  It is an old fashioned spelling for "Show."  He is referring to plays, skits and musical concerts.)

John Adams also said:
And what better way to celebrate than with Dream in Color's Starry yarn - it sparkles!

Ok, so he didn't really say that.  But perhaps he would have, if Starry had been around in 1776!

4th of July Red
So what is Starry?  Starry is Dream in Color's superwash merino wool yarn with just a sliver of silver Lurex filament spun into it.  The silver adds a touch of shimmer and glamour.  The superfine yarn will make your shawlette shimmer like an angel's wings and add twinkle to your toes in a pair of socks.

As if that's not enough of a reason to set off fireworks, you'll love the patriotic color names of the festive limited edition yarn:

4th of July Red, White & Blue
Not what you're looking for?  Not to worry.  We're highlighting the limited edition patriotic colors this week, but the shimmery Starry shines in 35 different colors to compliment any project in need of a bit of pizazz!

4th of July Blue
It's like a party on your needles!  Come on in to let us help you pick out a patriotic project to knit with Starry yarn.  Remember, we are open our regular hours on the 4th of July - there will still be plenty of time to have a picnic and watch the fireworks after we close at 5 pm - and our website is always available 24/7.

Happy 4th of July, and Happy Knitting . . .  Amy

HiKoo for You (At 20% Off!)

Skacel's HiKoo line of high quality yarn always makes me think "Haiku, a style of traditional Japanese poems.  But I've discovered that I'm a terrible haiku writer - so how about a simple rhyming poem!
Simplicity Yarn

There once was a man from Nantucket . . .

No, no!  Not that one!  Here's another one:

     Simplicity Crimson is red,
     CoBaSi Indigo is blue,
Tiara is sparkly and Rylie has linen
Knit faux fur with fun Caribou!

So why the bad poetry?  This is our pathetic way of letting you know that all HiKoo yarn is on sale at 20% off through the end of July.  That's right, all HiKoo yarn is on sale!

Are you doing the July KAL?  It starts on July 3rd, but you can join in at any time.  The mystery hat requires two colors of HiKoo's Simplicity yarn - and yes, Simplicity is included in our 20% off sale!  Simplicity is always a popular yarn, a good all-around workhorse yarn, but even more so now that it's the choice for the KAL. Choose from over 50 great colors!

Zumie Yarn
Do you like zombies?  Oh, wait, HiKoo's newest yarn is called "Zumie," not "Zombie."  But won't you look terrific running for your life during the zombie apocalypse while wearing a hat or cowl knit from HiKoo's Zumie!  Zumie is a one ply super chunky soft wool blend in over 20 bold colors.  A fun, bulky yarn that will zoom off your needles - great for fast summer knitting! (or running from zombies!).

I promise, no more poems . . .
