Big Rowan's Big Rowan Sale

Do you celebrate half-birthdays?  We do!  Rowan the kitten is a year and a half old.  Except, he is not a little kitten anymore - he is a big bundle of trouble!  Seventeen pounds and still growing - time for a sale that is as big as he is!

Rowan entered the store - and our lives - as kitten about five weeks old.  He started out living at the store, then moved to our home when he was old enough to be on his own.  Except he wasn't on his own - while we were working at the store he was home with our cat Scout (the famous cat in the red sweater), and together they were knocking books over, crawling into closets, and having all sorts of "fun."  Rowan and Scout became fast friends.  Our intention was to only keep him long enough to find a suitable home for him, but Scout - and Sean and I - decided he was a keeper.

What we couldn't decide on was his name, so last year we held a contest on our Ravelry site and on our facebook page to name him, and "Rowan" was the winner!

Game of Thrones Inspired FiberWild! Exclusive Color

Exclusive Color, we couldn't help but suggest another "Thrones" inspired color.  Snow Tree is a subtle blend of blue, green and gray inspired by the sacred weirwood tree in the northern region of the show.  

Snow Tree is available in Mountain Colors Bearfoot, a soft blend of superwash wool, mohair and a little nylon, Winter Lace Jr., a half silk, half wool lace weight yarn, and Alpaca Blend, a medium weight blend of 50% superfine alpaca and 50% wool.  And all three are on sale at 20% off!

Enchanted Tree Shawl Pattern

Keeping up with the tree theme, I created the Enchanted Tree Shawl pattern to show-off the colors with a tree and leaf motif sprouting from the stockinette stitch body.  The crescent shape stays on your shoulders nicely in the drapey, wispy way that follows so many of the costumes on the show.  The shawl's size is approximately 62” wide and 22” deep, and will take two skeins of the Bearfoot yarn.  We do not recommend knitting the Enchanted Tree Shawl with Alpaca Blend, but you can knit a lighter, more delicate shawl with two skeins of Winter Lace Jr.  (Call the store for a few tips and tricks for using the pattern with Winter Lace Jr.!)
