Summer always seems to draw out the "Bohemian Chic" in all of us … especially in Atlanta. There's little that inspires drapy, gauzy fabrics like 100°F heat and 100% humidity.
Designer Kennita Tully gets it! In her
Atlanta Mesh Top she uses the amazing combinations of colors in the
Tahki Tandem yarn to create this simple mesh short-sleeve cover-up. Wear it over a tee and let the breeze in and the Atlanta heat out!
The simple all-over alternating YO-K2tog lace pattern is easy to knit, and the body shaping is accomplished with decreasing needle-size as you work up the garment from waist to neck, then increase again as you work across the shoulders and down the back. You'll also use provisional cast-ons at the front hem and neckline that will be removed to be reworked in a stretchy bind-off. There's a bit of fiddly work, but it's a simple, quick-knit spring-summer project that you'll
love to wear!
The
Atlanta Mesh Top is knit in
Tahki Tandem Yarn, a silky soft cotton and viscose blend. There are multiple strands—some matte, some with soft sheen—of various, sometimes variegated colors chained together. The ultimate Missoni-like blend of color and texture is vibrant but balanced, with eight bold colorways to choose from ... the
perfect warm weather yarn.
Bonus: Tahki Tandem Yarn is on sale at 20% off through June 15th!
The Atlanta Mesh Top is part of the
Metro Knits pattern book, a collection of 13 classic designs that are fashionable without being overly-trendy. The collection includes tops, a tank, a tunic, pullovers, a duster and a jacket. You can purchase the Atlanta Mesh Top pattern
as an individual pdf, or
purchase the entire booklet as a hard copy.
Stay Cool!
Happy Knitting . . . . Amy
